Prioritizing User Feedback

Integrating feedback is essential to keep the people you’re designing for at the center of your project, and it’s the best assurance of user adoption. How do you synthesize user findings from testing, prioritize changes to implement, and decide what needs to be learned next?

The Plan in Action

Synthesizing is often more insightful if done in pairs or as a team. When reviewing data:

  • Look for patterns that emerged. Is there something you heard over and over again?
  • What feels significant or surprising?
  • Consider how global the problem is throughout the product. (e.g. Is text size too small in one location or throughout the site?)
  • Consider how severe the problem is - from critical to serious to minor. How often did this arise? Is it an edge case or an integral part of daily workflow?
